Pokhara, the second largest city of Nepal located west of the capital Kathmandu, it is home to Gurkha soldiers. The Annapurna Range with three out of the ten highest mountains in the world — Dhaulagiri, Annapurna I and Manaslu are within approximately 15 – 35 miles of the valley. Due to its proximity to the Annapurna Mountain range in the Himalayas, the city is the gateway of famous Mustang trekking, Mount Annapurna Circuit trail and Jomsom – Muktinath,
On arrival at Pokhara, we will visit the famous “David fall”, a beautiful waterfall, it marks the point where a stream from Phewa Lake vanishes underground through a narrow gorge into a mysterious hole in the ground, the Gupteswor Shiva Cave, one of the longest caves in Nepal and Tibetan refugee camp,
In the afternoon take a boat ride in Phewa Lake and reach the temple of Tal Barahi temple in the island, later simply walk around the main tourist hub near Fewa Lake side,
early morning takes off our Pokhara - Jomsom 25 minutes flight upon landing at Jomsom airport; we walk following the east bank of Kali Gandaki River to Ekle Bhatti (2740m, 1:30 hours). Then walk for another 30 minutes to reach Kagbeni, an oasis-like settlement of flat-roofed houses. There is also a Sakya Pa sect Buddhist Gompa in the village and views of the Gompa with Mt. Nilgiri, Mt. Tilicho, Mt. Dhaulagiri and Mt. Annapurna rising above are superb!
Leaving town ascend too little Chorten with dusty path. Up and down alongside of Kali Gandaki arrive Tangbe for lunch than still same kind of path cross the Chhusang River and cross the bridge on Kali Gandaki. Little climb to Chele with good views of walls with red color.
From Chele you climb a steep spur and then continue ascending along the side of a spectacular steep canyon to a pass. Beyond the pass you descend on a pleasant trail to Samar, situated in a grove of poplar trees afternoon trek from Samar to Hambuchen (Geling) (3510 m.) takes about 4 hours. You climb above Samar to a ridge and then descend into a large gorge past a Chorten before entering another valley filled with juniper trees. You then cross a stream and after climbing to a pass, you descend along a ridge to Syambochen, a tiny settlement with a few tea shops. The trail climbs gently from Syambochen and you enter another huge valley before descending to Geling with its extensive fields of barley.
Trek from Geling to Ghami (3520 m.) via Ghami La (3520m.) takes about 5 hours. From Geling the trail climbs gently through fields, up to the center of the valley, passing above the settlement of Tama Gun and an imposing Chorten. You then begin a taxing climb across the head of the valley to the Nyi La (3840m). The descent from the pass is quite gentle and about half an hour further, you come to a trail junction; the right trail is the direct route to Tsarang, the left trail leads to Ghami. Ghami is a large white-washed village sheltered by overhanging cliffs.
Today's walk is perhaps through the driest part of Mustang. Finally, you come to Charang, a large spread-out village at the top of the Charang Chu canyon. At the eastern end of the village is a huge Dzong (fortress) and a red Gompa which houses an excellent collection of statues and Thangka.
Trek from Tsarang to Lo-Manthang (Mustang) (3730m.) takes about three hours. You will spend part of the morning exploring the interesting village of Charang and its large monastery, before setting out for Lo Manthang. You climb gently above the valley to a large isolated Chorten that marks the boundary between Charang and Lo. The trail then broadens and eventually you get your first view of the walled city of Lo Manthang.
Explore the village and Monastery’s in caves, Explore Namgyal Monastery/Choser (with horse ride), it is just beside to Tibet and it is really nice place with 42 stories cave.
The trail goes upstream a valley next to the Mustang Khola. Some tricky sections to cross, then a short pass, sleepy at the end, crossing before dropping amidst fairy chimneys. On the way out we overlook Dhie. The drop, still sleepy, ends in a lunar atmosphere.
At first the trail drops to the Ghechang Khola at around 3350m, then again goes up till 3800m before dropping again! Campsite near Tange. Visit of that remote village with a remarkable architecture, especially its wonderful Chorten line.
It’s a long day today because as often in Nepal, there are switchbacks! Firstly, a horizontal trail till the torrent, then it steeply rises to 4100m. We have a 3h “level” Nepalese walk and we drop to Tange, uphill from Chhusang. Tange is a fortified village which slowly dies out cause of a water problem not flowing till the village. Campsite nearby, a great moment of that trekking amidst a titanic atmosphere.
The ascent to the next plateau is steep and the trail here can be tough to follow.
Luckily, our next leg brings an easy walk over a plain. We’ll need it to prepare for three hours of steep uphill hiking, at the top of which we're treated to stunning views of Thorong, Tilicho, and Annapurna. After this, it's an easy enough walk to Muktinath, which is strongly associated with local legend and spiritual lore.
Today is our final day of hiking, and we kick it off early to appreciate the majesty of Dhaulagiri backlit by the warm rays of the rising sun. We'll treat ourselves to a side trip to the Bon Punt monastery in Lubra before walking back to Jomsom. After Lubra, the trail leads to the Kali Gandaki and the river Panga - we'll have to leap over it a couple of times before the day is through! Where the two rivers meet, we join the main trekking path back to Jomsom.
We're up early morning to catch our flight to Pokhara, immediately transfer to hotel in Pokhara, after breakfast transfer again to Pokhara airport and take a flight to Kathmandu, viewing the great Annapurna, Machhapuchhre, Dhaulagiri and Langtang (weather permitting), arrive in Kathmandu and transfer to hotel.
Rest of the day free for personal activities, we could explore the narrow lively and endless streets of Thamel where you will find all kinds of good restaurants, full of typical Nepali handicraft, fine jewelry and clothing and trekking gear store.
In the evening, a Nepali farewell dinner, we rejoice and express our gratitude to our Sherpa team who accompanied us to make our great trip successful!!
Breakfast, in the morning free for personal activities, later at the arranged time, transfer to the airport for final departure.
We wish you a safe flight and hope to serve you back in near future. End of Service.
