The flight into the Himalayas offers breathtaking views of the major peaks Mt. Dorje Lakpa (6,966 m), Mt. Ganesh (7,422 m), Mt. Purbi Chhyachu (6,637 m), Mt. Langtang (7,227 m), etc. (weather permitting), taking you directly into the Himalayan capital of Kathmandu. After immigration formality on arrival, as you exit the airport terminal you will be greeted and welcome by a Sampurna Adventure personal & transferred to your hotel, Spend the rest of the day at leisure for personal activities following your program briefing or you may familiarize with the narrow lively, and endless streets around Thamel town (Touristic center), where you will find all kinds of good restaurants, ATMs and exchange money, full of typical Nepali handicrafts, fine jewelry, clothing, and trekking gear stores.
Kathmandu to Nepalgunj, an hour flight takes you to Nepal – India border town in western business center of Nepal, which is the gateway to Simikot of Humla. It is an interesting Terai town mixed with hills and plains as well as local Hindu & Muslim cultures walk into nearby villages and Muslim bazaar.
After checking into our hotel, we could visit the Bageshwari Temple, (Goddess Kali). Nepalgunj is known for its local bazaars, where all people from Tibet and India comes here for trade.
Breakfast, early morning flights of 45 min takes you to Himalayan foothills Jhuphal. Our adventure trek begins through the terraced fields towards Bheri River and the narrow gorge to camp at Dunai. It is the administrative headquarter of the Dolpo region. In the evening walk around Dunai village.
Breakfast, the trek continues along the south bank of the river heading upstream, crossing Deep gorges, hanging bridges and isolated villages with pine trees, The Tarakot is an old fortress town built by the local people. This village situated on a hillock to the south of Bheri River, once it is toll collection for the trading caravans.
Breakfast, continue trekking to follow the Tarap Chu River upstream, where you will cross the same river twice. You will see Sandul Gompa further east from Tarakot and at the junction of Barbung Khola and Tarap Chhu River. The path leads through the terraces field and rural villages with a few up and downhill to reach at overnight camp at Laini.
Continue trek up to the gorge of the Tarap River, the trail follows steep slopes. The trail is quite exciting as the valley becomes narrow gorge, sometimes the trail vanishes for a while, making our own path across stone slabs fitted on logs in between the walls which act as a bridge, later descend to Chyugur River.
A gradual up trail takes us to Kamattarka at the confluence of the Tarap Chu and Lang Khola, a stream flowing from the east. After hours of trail leaving the narrow gorge, the path leads just above tree lines with bushes of juniper and wild roses, typical of dry inner Himalayan valleys. After 3 hours trek takes you to the village of Dho Tarap reside by Bon Po and Chaiba sects, surrounded by an irregular stone walled valley. Tarap is also inhabited by a few Tibetans and Magar ethnic group for century,
Rest day in Do Tarap for acclimatization, during the day you can visit monasteries with breathtaking views. The people in Dolpo wear homemade spun clothing in maroon color, as Tibetan style somba or dhocha (boots with upturned toes) foot wear. Both men and women often wear rich religious amulets and strings of coral, amber and turquoise. Most of the habitant are Bonpo and Nyingma-pa sect, explore nearby Bon Gompa (pre-Buddhist) is about half an hour's walk.
The Trail continues towards upper Tarap valley, following the plain valley with patched of lush verdant grass on both sides of the river, which is completely different from other parts of inner Dolpo. The trek on this pleasant trail leads by the Tarap Chhu upstream all the way. Tarap considered as dream valley with vast plains in high mountains. The trails take you to the village of Tokiu, with monastery of Chiba sect. After visit this village, continues further up this valley climbing up the rough track for 3 hours to reach our overnight camp beneath the Numa-la.
The long and strenuous trek continues to crossing of Numa La pass at 5,190m. it leads to steep climb all the way to the top ridge of Numa la (Pass) with great views of the surrounding landscapes and offers incredible panoramic view of the barren mountains of Dolpo and Dhaulagiri (8167m). After Numa La you will descend to camp at Pelung Tang.
The trail begins with a steep climb to reach the top ridge of Baga-la at 5,070m. it offers great views of the surrounding landscapes and of the distant snowcapped peaks of Kanjirowa Himal range, after a glorious moment at the pass, 3 hours of downhill trek takes you to the Dajok Tang.
Trekking through the pine forest, on leaving the forest behind the country and the vegetation changes for pasture field and alpine shrubs most of the way to Ringmo on the gradual slopes with few ups and down trail takes you at Ringmo.
Rest day at Ringmo, you will be right on the shore of the spectacular Phoksundo Lake; the famous film 'Himalaya' by Eric Valley was shouted at this beautiful place, with Thinley's yak caravan attempted the 'Devil's Trail'. Yak caravans will be heading in and out of Ringmo on their way north towards the border of Tibet, and your destinations, Saldang and Thinje. You will explore the nearby Tibetan Buddhist monastery in this village of Ringmo. It is a great day exploring the lakeside and crystal serene Lake of Phoksundo with a great view.
Trek downhill to Chepka. From Chepka the trail follows the massive overhanging rock, it is the find many important medicinal herbs and mineral. The route then passes through the villages before climbing to Shyanta.
The trail goes gently sloping upwards to Jhuphal via Sulighat, on the way you will find tall birch trees. From atop the ridge, we can have the most spectacular views of the mountain and Jhuphal below. Take caution require while trekking along this trail. In the afternoon explore local market in Jhuphal,
In the morning, we take short flight from Jhuphal to Nepalgunj and from Nepalgunj, take a flight to Kathmandu, rest of the day at leisure. In the evening, a Nepali farewell dinner, we rejoice and express our gratitude to our Sherpa team who accompanied us to make our great trip in the Himalaya successful!!
Visit Swoyambhunath Stupa with its 2,500-year history. Later visit to Kathmandu Durbar Square, Hanuman Dhoka, the ancient royal residence, Kasthamandap, Mahadev & Parvati Temple, Kumari palace sacred for Buddhists and Hindus and bazaars.
In the afternoon, visit Patan Durbar Square, the old Newar City with the Golden Gate, the Temple of Taleju, Golden Temple and surrounding beautiful monument,
