Overview

The Ghorepani Poon Hill trek is ideal for those nature lovers who want to enjoy some of the best views of the Annapurna and Dhaulagiri massifs, without making much effort.

Poon Hill, the best viewpoint of Annapurna and Dhaulagiri
Poon Hill is a small mountain 3,210 m high located in the Himalayas. It is just behind the village of Gheorepani, about 40 kilometers from Pokhara. It is located in the Annapurna protected area, the largest protected area in Nepal where you have an infinite number of trekking routes for all levels.

Why is it well known? Well, because it offers a 360-degree panorama of the two great massifs, Annapurna and Dhaulagiri. The views are not the only reason why Poon Hill is so well known and visited. Its easy access from the city of Pokhara makes it one of the most popular viewpoints in the Himalayas. The Ghorepani Poon Hill trek is one of the few routes in the world, where in just 3, 4 days of walking you can admire mountains over 8,000 m high.

Ghorepani Poon Hill trek, an easy trek with views of eight miles
It is an easy and short trek suitable for anyone. The trekking begins in the town of Nayapul, which is 2.3 hours away from Pokhara. An advantage of this trekking is the circular route. In this way the area is explored more. The vegetation is abundant with forests of bamboo, oaks and rhododendrons, the national flower of Nepal. Spring offers a beautiful spectacle of rhododendrons blooming and as a result many tourists prefer to go trekking before the monsoon.

The spectacular Poon Hill viewpoint offers good views at both sunrise and sunset. Among the best-known peaks you can see: Annapurna I, (8,091 m), Annapurna South (7,219 m), Annapurna II, III, IV, Machapuchare (6,993 m), Hinchuli, Gangapurna, Lamjung Himal, and the mountain range. Dhaulagiri, Nilgiri, Tukuche Peak, Dhaulagiri II and many more. The Ghorepani Poon Hill trek can easily be linked to the Annapurna Base Camp , or with the Mardi Himal trek.
